Alarm Clock

Can I go to bed yet?

After more than 5 months of not needing an alarm clock I have to say that the last two mornings have been a bit of a shock. Unfortunately, my alarm clock broke quite a while ago (changing the time randomly and the alarm being unhelpfully silent). So for these past two mornings I have relied upon my husband to wake me up, as I don’t like having my phone in the bedroom and it is sod’s law that the children never wake up early when they actually need to.

I thought this system would work well as day one went fine, but this morning (after he stayed up late watching Netflix) he failed to wake himself or me up! So today I went out and bought myself a new alarm clock.

In order to try to make it as sustainable a purchase as possible I therefore did a bit of research first and discovered that the Phillips brand have a very good sustainability ethos and reputation, so I purposefully chose one of their basic clocks.

If you are interested, the Phillips website makes very encouraging reading in terms of their goals for EcoDesign, Circular Economy, being Carbon Neutral and they even have a refurbished product shop.

So I will be making sure that my old clock goes into the small electricals recycling collection and will be keeping my fingers crossed that my new clock will be more effective and reliable than its predecessor, and I don’t just mean my husband!
