Quick, its asparagus season!
This delicious vegetable is only in season here in the UK for eight and a half weeks of the year and so I will definitely be making sure that I take the opportunity to enjoy it over the next few weeks, as unfortunately the out-of-season, air-freighted asparagus (mainly from Peru) surprisingly has the highest rate of fruit/vegetable greenhouse gas emissions and is even higher than chicken and dairy too!
(The UK asparagus season traditionally runs from St George’s Day 23rd April to Summer Solstice 21st June.)
Now I just need to learn how to cook it without ruining it?!
